Yorba Linda Apartment Project Denied
February 21, 2008 by Sondra Marie

Yorba Linda residents have run another developer out of town.
In November 2007, Simpson Housing Solutions came to the Redevelopment Agency with a proposal for a 32-unit affordable housing apartment complex on the east side of Richfield Road and asked for up to $9.3 million in financial assistance for the project.
After listening to almost 20 residents in opposition to the proposal, the City Council voted 4-0 Tuesday – with Councilwoman Jan Horton excusing herself because she owns property near the site – to deny an exclusive negotiating agreement with Simpson.
Residents opposed said the proposal mirrored on a smaller scale the City Council’s actions two years earlier when the city worked with developers on a redevelopment project for the entire Town Center area. Residents said the apartment complex proposed this time around was too dense at 10 units an acre. The $9.3 million also rankled residents.
Should this developer have been given the right to build the 32 unit affordable housing? The answer was no from the 20 people who complained, and I agree with them. Not for the fact that they/we should provide low income housing but for the fact if the developer wants to build low income housing why should the city have to pony up $9.3 million.

The Yorba Linda Horse Trails are a nice place to take a walk and unwind in The Land of Gracious Living.
But are we really being gracious when we have to pick up our dog’s crap when horse owners can leave road apples (horse crap) anywhere they please?
I mean seriously people, a pile of horse crap is a lot harder to step over than dog crap.
Here is a little video I made of a sign that instructs us to pick up dog crap.

Train Horns in Yorba Linda

With road/bridge construction at Imperial Hwy & Esperanza the trains will start blasting their horns more than they seem.

Officials from the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway have announced the possibility of increased use of train horns along their route from Fullerton to Riverside, including Yorba Linda. Maintenance crews are currently inspecting and repairing rails along the entire corridor. Per Federal regulations, engineers are required to use the horns whenever there are maintenance personnel working on or near the track ahead of them. The work will be taking place for approximately the next month.
For more information visit the City’s website about Train Horns in Yorba Linda. Link
Do the train horns bother you? They used to bother me when I first moved to Yorba Linda but now they actually make me feel like I’m living in the country side because of their muted sound.
I know a lot of you probably think I’m nuts but then you probably live a lot closer to the tracks and it probably is annoying. But think about this. The train tracks were in Yorba Linda before you decided to buy that house. If you don’t like train horns then maybe you shouldn’t live so close to them?

Or Maybe it was this guy featured in the OC Register
The UFO inventor, Steve Zingali, is no mad scientist or evil genius. The former Mission Viejo resident is a balding semi-retired grandfather who stumbled upon the idea by accident in 2003. On the Internet.
Zingali, 58, was searching for help with his radio-controlled plane. Instead he found hand-drawn plans by a poster named Stringfly for something called a saucer.

So did anyone see the UFO? I didn’t .
