Summer is upon us and it’s time to go cruisin in the Hot Rod. The John Force crew hosts cruise nights on the last saturday of each month April through October. The next show is Saturday May 31st from 4-7pm. The free car show features food, entertainment and raffle prizes.

The family and I missed last month but we will be there tomorrow hanging out with all the hot rodders. Unfortunately I will not be bringing the 67 El Camino since it’s in the shop.
We will be there taking pictures. If you want to be featured on the site here with your car look for me. I’ll be carrying a camera with my shaved headed hubby and 4 year old boy in tow. Hope to see you there.

Yorba Linda Music Lessons - Savannah Music
May 23, 2008 by Loren Nason
Savannah Music is a new music school in Yorba Linda. If you
are looking for music lessons for either yourself or your children
you should come see the staff at Savannah.
I had the pleasure of meeting with Chris Cox the President of
Savannah Music.
Chris opened the business in March of 2008. Before opening the location
he and his team of instructors did home based instruction.
Savannah Music has a diverse mix of instructors that not only are they
teachers but are practicing musicians.
What sets Savannah apart from the crowd is all lessons are recorded
and stored online for each student to review at a later time. Each student
receives an account on the company’s website that they can then login
and watch the recorded video of all previous lessons.
The company name was taken from the definition of Savannah =
An area between the desert and the forest – it is the area where growth happens.

Did You Feel It?

Today Yorba Linda was soaked with rain and pounded by hail. Before the storm
and during the storm we also had 2 small earthquakes.
At 9:26 a.m we had 2.2 and the second hit at 1:14pm with a magnitude 2.0.
Yorba Linda is bordered to the north by the Whittier-Elsinore fault
and on the south by the Peralta fault.

How much hail did you get? Do you have any pictures? If so then send them to us and we will post them and link back to you.

Things You Should Know Before Moving to Yorba Linda
May 17, 2008 by Loren Nason
What a better list to create for The Land of Gracious Living than a list of things you should know about Yorba Linda. I bet even if you live her I might list something that you didn’t know.
The first thing you should know is that Yorba Linda’s average temperature is warmer than the rest of OC. When I watch the weather news on TV I don’t listen to the OC Temeratures but instead to the Corona Temperatures, they seem to be closer to the current temperatures.
Here is a snapshot of the 10-day forecast for May 17th 2008.

When I first moved to here I wasn’t expecting such a large difference in temperature. I used to live in Huntington Beach, and I think on average it is at least 10 degrees warmer than the beach on any day. It might be warmer, but I love living in Yorba Linda.
Each thing you should know will be its own seperate post so subscribe to our site if you would like to follow along.

Starting a Business in Yorba Linda

Overheard today…
Opening a business in Yorba Linda was the most frustrating endeavor I have done in my life. Even my contractor said it was the worst case of bureaucracy he has dealt with.
I have actually heard this a few times. Would anyone like to chime in?

Tio Chavas Mexican Restaurant in Yorba Linda

The Family and I went to Tio Chavas for dinner last friday night.
Small family, hole in the wall places always have good food and Tio Chavas did not disappoint. For a family of 4 we got out of there for $45 including tip. That was a great meal for that price.
Tio Chavas does not have a website or an email address, but this type of restaurant probably does need much help since anybody that has eaten here most likely has told a friend.
Tio Chavas is located at 18559 Yorba Linda Blvd, Yorba Linda, CA 92886.
They server breakfast lunch and dinner.
Hours
Monday - Saturday: 8am - 9pm
Sunday: 8am - 3pm
