Yorba Linda’s annual “Family Movies in the Park” series returns July 11, 2008 and continues every Friday night through August 8, 2008. These family-friendly movies will be shown outdoors at Eastside Community Park (5400 Eastside Circle) starting at dusk and continuing until approximately 9:45 p.m. There is no cost to attend.
Why not come early and enjoy a picnic dinner before settling in for the movie? Seating is on the grass so bring a blanket or low lawn chair so you don’t block the view of others.
Alcoholic beverages are prohibited in the park. Moviegoers are asked not to bring dogs for the comfort of the audience and to reduce potential safety problems. Skateboarding, bike riding, rollerblading, and riding scooters in the park during the movie are prohibited.
Movies being shown this year are:
July 11 – Surf’s Up (PG)
July 18 – Dreamer: Inspired by a True Story (PG)
July 25 – Monster’s, Inc. (G)
August 1 – Night at the Museum (G)
August 8 – Astronaut Farmer (PG)

Have You Seen The Pink Lady of Yorba Linda?
June 14, 2008 by Sondra Marie

Local legends and rumors of ghost and hauntings have been passed around for generations. Yorba Linda is home to their own ghost and local legend known as the Pink lady, who supposedly haunts the Yorba Linda Cemetery.
According to local legend the ghost of the Pink Lady pays visit to the Yorba Linda Family Cemetery on June 15th; every other even number year. The cemetery is now closed to public but at one time her legend was so popular hundreds would gather every year to try and catch a glimpse of her spooky image.
This Sunday, June 15, 2008 is the day she may be seen, if you believe. The question that will always remain is she or is she not real? And if she is, who really is the Pink Lady?
I found some really great information about The Pink Lady and the “mystical” history around her at these following sites:

Arroyo Park on Yorba Linda Blvd
One of my favorite parks is Arroyo Park which located on the ‘east side’ of Yorba Linda off of Yorba Linda Blvd. Next to the fire station, this little park is hidden with a quick turn-in driveway next to a small administration office for the Police Station. I never knew it was there until I went there to meet a Mother’s group one day over two years ago.
There are a few reasons why I love this park but the main one is that it is so secluded from the main road. A great fear of mine is my child running off and into a street filled with fast cars. Never mind the fact that, so far, my darling daughter is a pretty great kid and doesn’t go running far from me.
But it is a worry of mine! From the parking lot, you walk down a long path to get to the park so it is quite the destination and hidden away from cars driving by.
As you can see from the picture above, the play structures are perfect for younger children and older children. The first area is great for toddlers with small slides and a little tunnel. The second one is good for older ones with monkey bars and three tall slides. It also has foam on the ground which is great for running around, as opposed to the wood chips that kids will get caught in their shoes and throw around at others.
In the summer, Yorba Linda puts up shaded areas over the benches and also the five or six lunch tables. It’s a great place to throw parties and you can reserve the areas at the Yorba Linda City Hall.
I usually go there in the mornings of weekdays but I have gone on the weekends to find the park completely packed with soccer games in the big fields. There are also three baseball diamonds so I assume during the season it is also equally crowded!
Have you been to Arroyo Park before? What do you think? What are other parks that you equally enjoy? I have a few other favorites that I will be posting about in the future.

Looking for a Carpet Repair Company
June 6, 2008 by Kristi
The last storms that came through Yorba Linda were particularly vicious. One moment the kids and I were walking into Target in Anaheim Hills under cloudy skies and the next we were walking out in a downpour. Literally. As we got into the car we were hearing the booming sound of thunder which scared the kids a bit but I knew who it would scare more. We rushed home but it was to late.
Our two beautiful Golden Retrievers are petrified of storms. One of the dogs is more scared than the other and he does the most damage. The carpet in front of our master bedroom door is ruined. I think they thought we were in the room so they wanted to try to get in there. The sad part is that they have done this multiple times but we finally got it repaired about three months ago by our handyman. This time it was much much worse, to the point where the floor boards are peeking through with nails, etc. Now that our older daughter is in her own bed I don’t want her walking the hallway at night (she never does but just in case!) so we need it to be fixed.
I tried doing a few searches for a carpet repair man in Yorba Linda and found a few hits. Our handyman is pretty busy and he advised us to find an actual carpet expert which is why we aren’t using him again. I’m waiting for some call backs but wanted to ask if anyone had any recommendations? Please let me know by leaving a comment below!
I will keep you updated with any good Yorba Linda carpet repair companies I find.

Stefano’s Golden Baked Hams in Yorba Linda
June 5, 2008 by Kristi
I recently had a baby (a sweet little boy for anyone wondering) and Stefano’s called us one night after we had been home a few days and asked when we would like our meal to be delivered! My husband’s company had arranged for a delicious meal so we could relax with our new baby and older daughter. We told them the day and a time that would work for us and they showed up on the dot.
We were treated to an exquisite meal of turkey with a sweet glaze, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, veggies, and a huge tray of garlic bread. The meal was enough to last a family of 10 for about a week. The perfect ending to this meal with a custom dessert tray that had the best sweets I have ever tasted in my life. And I adore sweets.
A few weeks later, we ordered a meal for ourselves (the exact same one, actually, it was THAT GOOD!) and had another great delivery and service. The people at our home raved about the turkey. My husband has told me we will be doing this every few months because it is such a treat. We got a dessert tray the second time but it was a regular dessert tray (it was good, don’t get me wrong!), I asked later and you have to order a custom one if you want all the extra special goodies.
I never realized Stefano’s was hidden away next to Imperial Hwy and Yorba Linda Blvd next to the 24 Hour Fitness but it is worth a trip. Actually several! I have been back a few times and they do a brisk business for lunch as the sandwiches they serve are just as good as their home cooked dinners because of their golden baked ham and turkey.
