Does you cell phone reception suck?

Do you know what happens when you complain to your cell phone provider about reception problems in your town? Well, what your cell phone provider will usually do is:

  1. Collect enough complaints to warrant an investigation
  2. If investigation is deemed necessary then perform a signal strength survey

If the survey shows that more antennas will fix the problem. Then the provider will have to find a suitable location to install those antennas and get city planning approval to install them.

In a perfect world the city would approve the plan given a set of rules for types of antennas depending on the installation location. In Yorba Linda that is not the case for cell phone companies.

Today the Yorba Linda planning commission denied T-Mobile’s request to install cell antennas for their service. The request was denied because of the NIMBY’s voicing their opinion of potential health effects from radiation and that it would decrease their home values.

The antennas were to be placed atop light poles in La Paloma Tennis Park. T-Mobile was allowed to do a mock-up of the antennas to show the planning commission and residents what the it would look like.

Wow, these really look like an eyesore don’t they? Do these antennas reduce the value of your home? NO. When I moved I actually looked at what kind of reception I had before moving. Cell phone reception is important to me at home. Do cell phone antennas cause health problems? I don’t think so, and I have not seen ANY credible evidence supporting that is does.

Did you know that the “water tower” in the Village Center shopping center also has cell phone antennas attached to it? Take a look. If cell antennas cause radiation then you better stop shopping and hanging out at the Village Center

So, if your T-Mobile reception is poor thank your neighbors.

Some of the cell phones towers here in Las Vegas are disguised as “trees”. From a distance you actually can’t tell at all.

I am a MN resident and I am researching areas to move to. I have been thrilled with the idea of moving to Yorba Linda however I just read the article on the t-mobile situation. If it didnt make me so mad it would be funny. I have t-mobile here in maple grove mn. I went through a similar reception problem. Maybe its a sign, dont move to Yorba Linda. I am a self employed realestate investor and live and die by my cell. Typical liberal thought process.
