We (the family) are against drunk driving and we support the efforts of the police and awareness groups for doing their best at reducing the incidences of DUI.
With that said I always wonder as to why Police Departments tell the public that they will be doing DUI checkpoints in certain neighborhoods. It’s like telling robbery suspects “hey, we will be in the 17000 Block of Yorba Linda Blvd doing random neighborhood searches looking for suspicious activity”. Now the criminals know what area to avoid while stealing stuff. So let’s tell the Drunk Drivers we will be in “X city” doing checkpoints so they can make sure they steer clear of the city during the checkpoint times so as to not get caught in one.
Attention stupid Drunk Drivers:
On Friday, December 18, 2009, the Brea Police Department will conduct a Driving Under the Influence Checkpoint in the City of Yorba Linda. The checkpoint will be held at an undisclosed location in the city from 9:00 p.m. until 3:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Loren,i couldn’t agree with you more.Drunk drivers disgust me.Recently,my daughter’s friend had just gotten her licence. That night she was on her way to EDHS to pick up her baton the night before a field show competition.A drunk driver hit her,and involved a couple of other people. Her quick actions with defensive driving avoided her from hitting an electricity pole. The car was totally written off.I know her family well, and could not imagine getting that phone call. She showed tremendous courage and went on to lead her band the next day, very battered and bruised.I have avoided 2 incidences on YL Blvd, and know for a fact the driver was drunk,as i saw him in a local store and could smell the booze on him.I too wish the police would not let people know ahead of time,i think they would catch alot more. You drunk driving idiots, put your keys away, and WALK!!!!
hey, good post and i also like your page layout too. Bookmarked your site and will stop by again
Totally agree! It doesn’t make sense that they would let everyone know where they will be. Why? Drunk drivers deserve to be caught off guard and taken in if they are drinking and driving. If they are dumb enough to drive drunk then they should suffer the consequences. Such an irresponsible thing to do and jeopardize others in the process!
We should never drink and drive, but I still like to know where checkpoints
will be in Orange County, San Diego, and LA. I may use calcheckpoint
(www.twitter.com/calcheckpoint) to find out where they are.
