She has arranged for a representative from Orange County Animal Control to attend this meeting to discuss our coyote situation. This is an opportunity to ask questions from the experts!
There will also be an opportunity to catch up on City business and /or discuss your concerns with Jan Horton of Yorba Linda City Council.

The usual handful of Jan-friends showed up. Nice to see you but wish there were more people. Maybe more pertinent discussions on current events besides coyotes? Oh, well, keep trying Jan!
YES, perhaps if you discussed how you ran out of a controversial meeting and why more than your 5 friends would show up??
& perhaps if you explained why SB1070 isn’t City business when the State just took millions from us you would also have a better turn out………..
To clarify: there were approximately 25 people in attendance, many of them I had not met before. The coyote issue is very pertinent to those directly affected, as many of the attendees have been. We have taken an aggressive stance in dealing with the coyotes and hopefully will see the most aggressive coyote posturing stopped.

To clarify: Most were there as Java Joe’s customers but that’s OK, everyone needs to be informed about coyotes so however the info is disseminated at least it gets out.
I wish the story re Jan’s abrupt departure on the cusp of the discussion regarding her controversial remarks and a controversial vote were more plausible and less “convenient”. As the fact remains that AB1070 IS pertinent to our city and the fact remains that Jan is not willing to uphold our city’s rights on this issue.
We need a full 5-count city council and with Jan Horton’s refusal to stand with us we must assume she stands against us.
At least Winder had the guts that night to state his adversity to our city’s rights, wrong headed as it may be.
I know this is Jan’s column but since some are talking about Winder, didn’t he take an oath as a police officer to uphold the city, state and US laws??? Isn’t that all that YL is trying to do???? Uphold a law that already exisits where illegal aliens are concerned.
So now Winder and Jan are disregarding what they were sworn in to do?????????? GEEEE, I can’t wait for November and thank God Winder is a “Lame Duck” or perhaps he will take the advise of the crowd that was demanding his resignation on the way out of the council meeting last month???
YES……. I agree with LUCKY… Jan’s exit was “convenient” as it has been told the family accident occured earlier in the day and she “conveniently” exited just before the illegal alien portion of the meeting???
Ooo, let’s bash Mrs. Horton for trying to get out in the public. I never met Mrs. Horton, but she is the only one of the 5 that tries to get out in the public. She and Winder might not speak for you, Happy-YL or for Lucky, but Winder, and possibly Horton, do speak for me. She has her reasoning and it is not far to her or her family to allude that she was ducking out of the meeting.
I am all for inforcing our border laws to the fullest, but I did not feel that the YL Council should waste meeting time on an issue that everyone knew the out come would be. Mr. Anderson was just grandstanding as usual, and 3, or was it 4 hours later, we got a vote.
This vote was only to support AZ. What about enacting a city ordinance banning the harboring and hiring of illegals. Then I would have supported Anderson and his actions.

I do believe that Horton and Winder represent you because you all have the same misguided opinions.
You appear to believe the fantasy that Horton had a perfectly timed family emergency. She just happened to be able to receive a telephone call since she just happened to have stepped down from the dais due to a conflict. This has only happened once during her 3 1/2 years during the most controversial issue that the council has faced. What’s next? Will you also tell us that you believe in the tooth fairy?
Horton later stated that she was planning to obstain, meaning that.. as usual.. she wanted to sit on the fence and not take a stand. But guess what? By not taking a stand, she took one!
Then, there is Winder who is a public servant and retired Brea PD Cop. He doesn’t feel it is his responsibility to listen to or protect the public. He failed Public Safety and City Council 101. Arizona is the #2 kidnapping city in the world and our prisons include illegals that we now pay to keep locked up. Then, there is the oath to serve the public and the cost to all taxpayers for illegals. Talk about a loser! This guy should go home and stay there.
3-4 hours to decide this issue? Go watch the video and stop trying to pull our legs.

Why don’t you go to the next council meeting and suggest the next action this council should take? But hold onto to your Liberal hat, as they might just take your advise and be responsible public servants unlike your “team”.
First of all, I am a registered Republican, not a liberal, but I do have an open mind and try to see things from both sides. Second, I believe in giving a person the benefit of the doubt. I never said she actually had an emergancy to go to, but if she really did, then all power to her to care for her family. If she did not, well, then yes, she was ducking the issue. Bad Mrs. Horton!
As for the issue, this vote means nothing for YL Please explain to all of us “liberals” what the city and it’s citizens gained from this vote. Oh yes, a couple of lines in the OC Registar. Anything else? I just do not see any benefit of the resolution to the residents of this fine city.
And lastly, being an open minded person, I won’t assume any personal issues or stoop to name calling. I also believe in being cordial and civilized in a blog posting.
