Well, I’ll buy it on a lease option.
I’ll offer $500.00 per month for 5 years with a large balloon payment at the end of those 5 years of 1.5 million
Then i’ll move my RV up their and have the ultimate campground
I know this land…it boasts ocean views, and has about 20 acres relatively flat and great access. the majority has slopes that would be easy to grade if zoning permitted.
1 house on this property would be a dream……..no neighbors, ocean views, panoramic mountain/city-lites..a 56 acre parcel that rarely exists anywhere in city life.
the folks of yorba linda enjoy this open space currently, but it is privately owned……..perhaps it will stay open space, but why should it? just a 1/4 mile “as the crow flys south-east”,a new developement was rezoned a few years ago on a land-locked parcel previously zoned open-space…now there are 20-30 homes worth 2million each.
politics and deep pockets are the basis of capitalism. Should open space exist for resident viewing at no cost to those who reside within or around the parcel?
who bears the cost of maintaining? should the investor be able to profit from a project that would be beneficial to the residents of YL?
Should big money be allowed to sway things?
I believe this is a dream property if one could truley be allowed to reside on it. I wish I could afford it…..common sense usually dictates in the long run……….
the question is….what would common sense dictate in the next 5 years or so? Condos,apartments,low-income-housing,equestrian center, park,or leave it posted.”private property”?
What about the next fire threat?
How about a couple of ranch-style homes,a park, trails for the public use…perhaps lightly lit leading to picnic benches for a retreat to view hundreds of miles in all directions, and enjoy spectacular sunsets?
I would love to see the area improved for all to use, while takeing away any fire-threat that exists if left alone…….a spectacular parcel……….BUT………time changes all things…hopefully it will be a nice rural change…….tons of more roof lines isn’t out of question in a society with population growth.TIME…..the equalizer of all things.
even measure b will have to be subject to TIME one day.
I will enjoy views…rural are my favorite..as long as the good Lord allows…peace. oh 1.5 million balloon? yea sure…….put it in escrow and partner with me..sounds good……..it will probably cost us a few thousand a month though….you do the weed abatement? I will do the hammocks……..lol
Well,my husband and I went to look at this peice of land and I must tell you it takes me back to when I was very young and adventurous.I layed down in the grass just to look up at the sky.A house or two would be ideal.Talk about a one of a kind.My daughter and I both love to ride horses. This peice of property would also be ideal for stables.I did notice that the horse trail comming from lower Fairmont runs up to another parcel connected to this one.It looks like it is a perfect entry or access to the acreage.Well I am very interested but need to work on my husband. This land has come up for sale before. Residents aggresivley fight any building on it. I believe it was designated as open space when Baldwin Homes built the surrounding homes but. This land also is in the vicinity of an underground Yorba Linda water tank which im sure the water district doesnt want any cut/fill going on around it. Several of these land locked / tax sale / open space parcels exsit in this area and every few years somebody tries to unload one on an unsuspecting buyer. There are lots of neighbors with lots of $ and plenty of time to fight this idea again. The new owner is also responsible to cut the brush due to the fire issues. Plan on spending lots of $$ each year just to keep the acres and acres of sloped hills free of brush. Dreamers start driving the streets and looking at these lots each time someone tries to sell one and they have no idea what they are in for.
“Land of gracious living” as the name implies is just that. This property should remain vacant land. Dont we have enough housing? This property was designated as open land by the builder and city planning. It was a condition of city for building the current homes. This land has come up before and is deemed unbuildable both in nature of topography and zoning. There are issues such as designated landing for Orange County Fire Authority and the Yorba Linda Water District underground water storage. During the recent fires and rains to follow there were fissures discovered in these general areas. This land is land locked and has no entry point. It is surrounded by homes and city landscaping. Any ideas for this land should consider the liabilities. Brush clearance, hydro seeding, flood controling and insurance. When its all said and done 1.5 million is a ridiculous asking price for a piece of land you can do nothing with.
Well I have to say that everything changes.I grew up all my life watching how my Country,State And City have changed.Senators and Congressmen will all be soon running for office again. The city will not be able to shackle zoning ordinances forever. It has been said that Yorba Linda has a need for low income housing.I have contacted the state for guidance on rezoneing and I am very optomistic.Regaurding this land,I dont beleive the owner will have trouble cutting the weeds.I beleive there are three access openings available .One from Chino another from the parcel on Fairmont and I beleive another easmont from the city water road.I am not certain about the last.I am sure the owner wants everything good for YORBA LINDA. Listen all……
I think its great to share opinions………facts are a bit different than what I have read so far on the 56 acres………
the folks posting do have some knowledge, but I believe their own ideas, wishes, agendas,or simple incorrect info. has caused incorrect facts…….ie the land IS NOT LANDLOCKED…not even close. The grassy area that is along Fairmont Blvd. is the owner’s private property.
The owner is not pursuing any measures against current City Zoning, but is not turning a blind eye to what he thinks should be fair and equitable.
This 56 acre parcel has wonder views of Catalina, and far beyond in many directions.
Why is it that a few years ago a LANDLOCKED parcel off of San Antonio Rd. and Casino Ridge was suddenly rezoned from Open Space to Multifamily Residential,and 50-100 homes put in?{estimate from eyes view}
Why should that OPENSPACE get rezoned and this 56 acre parcel with GREAT ACCESS not be under consideration?
why the animosity over a for sale sign?
Did not each resident buy on a parcel that was once home to wildlife,to natures creatures? These folks lite up their fireplace,…
these folks complained to the owner when he did “too much” weed abatement….I personally did the weed abatement on this parcel, and took the line of dried-fire-fuel way back because it was so very dry and about 12 feet tall……. I did not get ONE SINGLE THANK YOU for the extra work, but heard many complaints prior.
How many homes might have been burnt had those tall dried weeds been 1/2 as close ?
NOT ONE SINGLE HOME was lost to that inferno ………not one home surrounding the 56 acres…….we were blessed!!!!!!!!
Don’t you all think there is a better usage of this land? It is fuel……..what about some green lanscaping? What about some nice paths…well-lit at night for moonlight walks up to the top?
How about a park,or equestrian center done in modern form so no smell or dust? any ideas? or simply FUEL? sincere peace and truth
On the other hand..
if many families can benefit in some way from developing this land for low-income situations, then I am all for that too….can you imagine a single mom or dad trying to raise kids in this economy?{I do believe we’ve hit bottom and housing strengthen shortly}…….Yorba Linda has recently been top #1 in gross national income and housing….
what percentage of our homes will our children be able to afford?
we should think about those less fortunate….note that my property I currently reside in would likely decrease in value, but “rewards in Heaven”far outweigh that loss………
A 1 acre easement for a water resevoir can benefit the local area, even if new homes went in on the subject parcel..
fissures……..thats a great one….we have them and fault lines all over Yorba Linda…….the entire Earth has them.
Our wonderful city is as good as it gets……………we should be willing to share more than a bedroom for real hospitality……..peace,rh
opinions welcome please…….
.Subject–a few tents for homeless out of site in lower areas, with a clean porta-restroom cleaned often.
no alcohol or drugs allowed
no unsightly behavior,as judged by common sense.
owners liability would have umbrella protection, and each person must sign a waiver, with verifiable id.
any comments on this idea? owner would like someone to benefit in the case the market conditions don’t allow for a sale of the land.
thanks in advance for any imput…peace and truth and blessings to all in these difficult times….rh
well, this subject is cold or no readers……..
anyway, i talked to a shelter and gained enough insight that i know control of a homeless place would be near impossible……….gosh, this is a tough world..rh
RH,
I’m not getting much traffic to this post.
I think your idea is awesome but the problem is I think you would get to many restrictions placed on you with this idea making it not workable.
