dftf One the the largest and best run temporary homes for wards of the State in California is Orangewood, (here in Orange County). Orangewood takes in children when their parents are unable to care for them either due to incarceration, death, abuse or neglect. These children are welcomed with open hearts during the most difficult time in their lives. To say Orangewood is doing God’s work is an understatement. While it is run officially by Social Service department, the one thing that sets it apart from other similar institutions is the Orangewood Children’s Foundation which raises money to help supplement the expenses for the needs of the children. A friend of mine, who was once a resident of Orangewood has organized a fundraising effort of his own. Design For the Future is a fundraiser which is raising funds and giving 100% back to The Orangewood Children’s Foundation. I hope you will consider giving even a small donation to this worthy cause. While living in the land of sunshine, SUV’s, brand names and general glamour-it is easy to forget that these children, the children of Orangewood, are OC too. And they deserve to have their needs met.
