Marijuana Store in Yorba Linda

Post image for Marijuana Store in Yorba Linda

I’m not completely against the idea of legalizing Marijuana for medicinal purposes. Maybe at least take it off the Schedule 1 classification so more research can be done. But this post is NOT about whether it should be legal or not.

What shocks me to NO END. Is that a “legal” Marijuana Medical Dispensary was able to open some how in Yorba Linda but this city can’t (won’t) even allow a bar to open. I’m not going to give the location of the store but I will say it is NOT in the unincorporated sheriff patrolled county area where Canyon Inn is located. The area it is in is the City of Yorba Linda as far as I know.

I mean really people, we can buy Weed with a doctors note but we can’t go out and have a drink with friends. Yes, I know we could go to Versai, but technically it is not a bar. And I know we could go to Chili’s, but still it is not a Bar.

Anyone got the Munchies?

I am shocked. I am not sure if I am offended….but I am shocked for sure.

When did this get approved? And HOW? I want to know what our city council has to say on this…..

I am completely against legalizing Medical Marijuana. I think it’s just an excuse to be able to get high for most people that are for it. I can’t believe this is opened here in Yorba Linda, and the residents didn’t get advised.

Donelle February 5, 2010 at 12:19 pm

I am quite shocked that Yorba Linda would allow this to open. If they won’t allow a bar (an actual bar, not a restaurant where you can get drinks), why would they allow this?
Very strange, indeed?

I believe this might be the address. Now we have a pot store and an Asian Massage next door to Kid’s Art.
Way to go zoning YL.

Im shocked and offended I didn’t know about this place earlier. Then I wouldn’t have to get my home deliveres and wait a couple hours. I could just walk in an get it.

For all of you who complain they let that but not a bar… well look at it closely. Who is more likely to get in an accident? A drunk or your typical stoner? Who is going to beat his wife? Who is going to assult someone? Who is going to be doing stupid things in public? It’s safer to have a store like that in town than a bar. At least you can’t sneak into a dispensary like you can a bar. As long as they follow the laws, that were voted in by over 60% of the state I say let them stay.

Donelle February 8, 2010 at 12:42 pm

Oh please, they both have their cons. And you can’t say that a stoner is the lesser of the two in all situations, if you are going to strictly compare them that way.
They are two different things and people are affected differently by them, that is for sure, but the point is that Yorba Linda has always been a place that wouldn’t allow anything of this type of scene in the city, not whether one is better than the other.

Simpsonsfan101 February 8, 2010 at 5:43 pm

at least all those stoners in yorba linda had a chance at getting their legal medication in a safe invorment instead of getting it from the 18-20 year olds who get it from their sources in fullerton and anaheim.

on a side note, I think it’s funny how little most people that live in yorba linda know about the drug situation that goes on in the city. it has a much higher drug rate than most of you would think. where do you think your kids allowance and lunch money goes?

Donelle February 8, 2010 at 5:49 pm

Like I said, this wasn’t a discussion about the drug scene and how we feel or what we know. And I’m well aware of how things are in YL, I’m not that old, it wasn’t too long ago that I was a teenager running around YL.
This was about the fact that Yorba Linda has claimed such high standards regarding what they will and will not allow in the city. Anything, be it, marijuana or a bar, it just didn’t seem like something they would have.
Don’t change this into a discussion about the drama of the drug scene when it was simply to express surprise of Yorba Linda’s decision on what to have in their city.

Loren Nason February 8, 2010 at 7:23 pm

Thanks Donelle,

This was just a funny post about how ironic that a Pot Store opens up in the city with no bars.

Not about the drug scene or if we should legalize it.

Donelle February 10, 2010 at 3:28 pm

Exactly! :)

After reading all the comments I find some humor in some peoples comment on what they don’t know anything about. Either the underground drug world or the legal one, they only believe what the hear or read without ever having any personal experience. Having had dabbled with a few drugs myself from meth, cocaine, lsd, magic mushrooms to pot and having friends that did all the above, I can tell you pot is the very least detramental and I would much rather deal with a pothead than any of the rest!
Marijuana smokers cross all demagraphics from poor to rich, the only difference is suit/no suit.
I was involved in a near fatal offroad accident about 3yrs ago and was on some pretty strong drugs for my BRAIN injury and have had a hard time sleeping. Didn’t really want to continue on the prescription for fear of being HOOKED on so called “legal” prescription drugs or having a kidney that can’t too much of it so i decide to get a prescription for “pot”. On nights that I think I’m not going get much sleep, I smoke a little and get a good nights sleep.
Has everyone forgot the PEOPLE have voted and passed prop 215 and 420 It’s “LEGAL”!!!
Don’t foget about PROHIBITION and what that caused…Al Capone!!!
The government does’nt always know whats best for us but the people usually do!!
Try doing some practical research before you comment on what you know nothing about….and maybe take a history lesson.

I can assure you, this was not a decision of the City to open a Marijuana Dispensary in the City.

ConcernedInYL February 14, 2010 at 2:10 pm

Jan, what is the city of YL going to do about it?

From what I have heard no one knows how they got the permit approved considering YL has had a city ordinance against it in place for quite some time.

Seems to me like it would be a slam dunk to kick them out.

Jan Horton February 14, 2010 at 3:12 pm

It is never as simple as it seems. The permit was for a wellness center.

I’m looking forward to opening day. I’ll be there will bells on. It’s not like you can just walk in. Your children can’t buy it. These store have very strict rules and it’s not a hang out place. If anything this will drive more business to the chopping center. Living in Yorba Linda is a wonderful thing but some of it’s residents could lighten up a bit.
