In case you were not aware, haven’t seen the signs, or out of the loop. Southbound Imperial Highway will be closed from Orangethorpe to La Palma starting February 13th 2009.
Traffic is probably going to increase on all of our favorite side roads such as Lakeview, Kellogg, Richfield, Fairmont, and the others I don’t know about. You can still take Imperial south to Orangethorpe, you just can’t go past Orangethorpe. Northbound Imperial will stay open so at least traffic won’t be too bad coming into Yorba Linda.
During the closure, crews will complete construction of the bridge over the train tracks at the Imperial Highway, Orangethorpe Avenue and Esperanza Road intersection. Crews will raise the existing road to match the height of the new bridge. Once work is complete, both northbound and southbound lanes will move to the
newly constructed bridge.
The project will be completed in late 2010, the Imperial Highway bridge will enhance safety by improving pedestrian accessibility, alleviate tra ffic congestion and eliminate wait time for motorists caused by passing trains.
Alternate Routes
Please follow posted detour signs to avoid tra ffic congestion. Drivers are encouraged to take Kellogg Ave. or Fairmont Ave. to La Palma Ave. and continue east or west to access Imperial Hwy. or Lakeview Ave.
