Twas the week before Christmas and my house is a mess.
Not quite done with shopping and feeling the stress.
My youngest is coughing and sick as a dog.
Trying to cope I drink some special eggnog.
With my head all a fuzz from the spirits I drink,
My little ones screams “uh oh” and my heart it does sink!
I run up the stairs just as quick as I can,
There he is standing my sick little man.
With his eyes all a twinkle and looking straight down,
I notice the toilet over flowing, it was one wet white throne.
So I ask what has happened what did you do to the seat?
He said he was dirty and washed his hands and his feet.
Just then I spotted all over the room,
Mounds of wet toilet paper and a wet broom.
My child is covered in makeup and poo,
And now I am now sickened by what he did do.
On one wall a drawing done mainly in dark brown,
It was all so stinky and not drawn with a crayon.
So I turn on the shower holding back tears,
Wondering if I will survive the next 18 years?
I get him all cleaned and smelling good too,
Secretly wondering what next he will do?
I warn him that Santa is watching and he better be good,
Or he won’t get any presents on Christmas like he normally would.
Just when I’ve decided to skip Christmas this year,
My son comes in smiling full of bubbling cheer!
He hands me a flower picked straight from my vase,
He tells me he loves with a big smiling face.
So the week before Christmas I guess Santa will come,
Gifts he will leave with a small lump of coal for my little one.
