Every holiday or celebration I am the proud recipient of a lot of crappy, I mean crafty homemade gifts from my children. I still maintain (in a cool dry place) my “collection” of sparkling pasta jewelry constructed with crazy glue and sprinkled with glitter. I have a macaroni necklace, manicotti bracelets, a rigatoni toe ring, and bow tie pasta earrings. The rigatoni got wet… looks more like a slipper.
One year we were so broke I had to cook the linguini bangles… Whatever happened to the good old days when kids were making ashtrays out of clay? (God I miss the sixties!)
When I was nine years old I made my dad a black and white ashtray out of clay with my handprint in the center! I was so proud of my pottery skills, or the lack there of. It was a little crooked and sat at an angle. I was always afraid he’d get drunk, fall asleep and forget about his lit cigarette in my crooked clay ashtray and then the cigarette would fall off on to the floor and cause a deadly fire. (I made him a clay urn the next year.)

Very funny…. and we all have pasta jewelry. I have a piece from 1980! My son used lasagane slabs! Instead of glitter he used sand!
