Yorba Linda City Council Televised Sessions

During the last city council session a resident addressed the council and suggested that the city council sessions that are on TV should be broadcast at earlier times and more often as some residents don’t stay up at all hours of the evening (or not home) to be able to watch them.

Jan Horton asked the Yorba Linda City Manager to see what can be done about this.

The City Manager was able to find other programmings spots that would be at NO additional costs to the city. He sent an email to the council of his findings.

But, due to micro-management of city employees by city council he was told that there was not a concensus to make those changes and that the issue should be put on the next City Council agenda to be acted upon.

I don’t see why a city council has to have an item on its agenda to be discussed about a dicision that doesn’t cost any money.

City Council should just back off and let people do their jobs they were hired to do and stop being micro-managers.

  1. This is horrible and yet SO TYPICAL. They don’t want them re-broadcast because they want as few people to see them as possible. They are paranoid of the public seeing what jerks they are on camera. They want it old school, behind closed doors…and frankly technology SCARES people like that. You know, people who have something to HIDE.

You are correct sir. If it dose not require the city to spend any additional money, it dose not require a vote. Therefore why would the council care? The video is already available 24/7 on line. I don’t see an issue on why staff would want the decision on what times to air the re-broadcast. Broadcast it on all open spots, what is there to hide???
