Sandbags for possible flooding provided by the City of Yorba Linda

Yorba Linda, CA – Due to the Freeway Complex Fire on November 15-16, nearly all
vegetation on the hillsides along the northern interface between the City and the Chino Hills
State Park have been burned away.  As a result, much of the remaining soil and debris could
wash down into surrounding neighborhoods when it rains.  These mudflows may result in
additional property damage.

Homeowners are encouraged to begin making plans now for the onset of the rainy season. To
assist residents in high risk areas, the City of Yorba Linda is stockpiling sandbags at various
locations in the City.  These sandbags are free to residents who need to establish property
protection measures against potential mud flows during and after a rain event. Sandbags are
available to residents at the following locations:

1. Brush Canyon Park
2. Brant Ranch Park
3. Box Canyon Park
4. Hidden Hills cul-de-sac east of Mission Hills Lane
5. San Antonio Road @ Ridge Park Drive
6. San Antonio Road N/O Fairmont Boulevard @ greenbelt
7. Fairmont Boulevard @ Foxhollow Drive
8. Quarter Horse Staging Area on Quarter Horse Drive
9. Clydesdale Drive N/O Lipizzan Lane @ MWD Easement
10. Yorba Linda Fire Stations

Residents with disabilities can call the City’s Disaster Relief Center at (213) 503-4256 for
assistance with sandbags.

Additional information about property protection and post-fire mud flows is available to
residents on the City’s website at www.ci.yorba-linda.ca.us, at the Disaster Relief Center
located at Savi Ranch Center, 22744 Eastpark Drive (Hotline Number: 714-380-0535), and at
City Hall, 4845 Casa Loma Avenue.

Telephone # 714-380-0535
In response to the devastating brush fires that damaged or destroyed over 180 homes in Yorba Linda last weekend, the City is opening a local Disaster Relief Center to help affected residents. This new Center will supplement the services that are currently being provided at the multi-agency Local Assistance Center at the East Anaheim Gymnasium in the City of Anaheim.

Beware of unlicensed and/or fraudulent contractors, architects, engineers or insurance brokers.

The CA Department of Insurance – Law Enforcement Division will begin passing out information packets in the fire-affected areas starting today, November 19, 2008. Their primary purpose will be to hand out the flyers to help prevent fire victims become further victimized by fraudulent or unlicensed contractors. Later, they will begin driving through the affected areas looking for anyone performing construction and verifying they have a license, as it is illegal for an unlicensed contractor to be in a disaster area.

More information can be found at the Department of Insurance website:
