Many have been waiting to find out what the final boundaries will be for the new high school. The final results were voted on last night and the results are not sitting well with some people.

What others are saying:

As a parent of a Bryant Ranch student, I find it unbelievable that the school board would ignore the overwhelming majority of meeting attendees and the superindentent and choose to send the most far east part of Yorba Linda to the South West of the city at Esperanza. This is all about “demographics” and not about what makes sense. Kids do not bond by their elementary school friendships – it is the middle school ones that matter. Now Travis Middle students will be split in two. Thanks, school board. I am sure you will all be reelected.

As a mother of three in the district, I was completely appauled at last night’s board meeting. Middle school is the most difficult time in a child’s life and friendships that develop during this time are critical. To strip the Bryant Ranch kids away from any friends made while at Travis Middle School is just cruel. Please reconsider.
I so agree with ylmom. My daughter is devasted at the news. We are in Bryant Ranch area and my daughter has made some very tight knit friends at Travis all of whom would go to the new high school. Middle school friendships are critical and sending my daughter to high school without any of her friends is cruel. Somthing drastic needs to be done by families in this area.

just out of curiosity to all the bryant ranch parents, when you purchased a home in that area, when there was no intention to build a public high school, where EXACTLY were you planning on sending your kids. Some of you have lived out there for 8 years or more and the district only in the last few years decided on a public school, so what were your plans before that???? and furthermore, some parents in the bryant ranch area believed esperanza okay for the kids that live south of yorba linda blvd. but it’s not a good enough school for your kids??? mmmm, sounds a tad snotty to me. It sounds like those who didn’t get their way are having a tantrum and call it unfair. how do you think it felt to the 20% who weren’t originally included in the scenario??? or did you not consider the feelings of others, just yourselves..

Overall if you do not like where you kids will be attending high school petition for a school transfer. I think people are freaking out when if ask nicely for your specific child you can probably get what you want.

Here is another thought. For some of you that would have to drive your kids to YLHS, do you really want to deal with the traffic since the Bastanchury and Fairmont are not exactly completed for mass amounts of vehicles? Hopefully that will change come September.

All the pissed off people will send their kids to private schools. That will add to the “declining enrollment.”

Instead of fighting about boundries, let’s fight about NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND. I believe all pylusd school sites should adopt the web-site for homework assigments like they do at Travis Ranch. (Even in high school.) PARENTS need to know where their child stands and work is being done. All ages forget papers or can’t write fast enough to get assignments or embarrassed to ask question in front of peers. They will have it at their fingertips from the posting on web. Take a look at this program from so many dedicated teachers. Some teachers take it farther with their links and files. If you lost the assignment, you can print it and it won’t be late or a O! NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND!!!

The high school boundaries for scenario 2 which places all of Bryant Ranch at YLHS even though according to MapQuest it is a longer commute for them than Esperanza is not just completely nonsensical but very ugly and selfish on the part of Bryant Ranch to even want that at the expense of splitting Travis Ranch and Fairmont who are both closer to YLHS.
