During the last City Council meeting, council members discussed displaying “In God We Trust” in the council chambers. A vote was not cast allowing time to gather data and put out a report for public review.
Some might say this is a violates Seperation of Church and State. I say you are wrong and this is not the City mandating what church you must attend and what God you must believe in. This is just a city displaying what the believe.
Yorba Linda is home to at least 14 churches that I have counted. We are also home to the largest Quaker Church in the world, Friends Church of Yorba Linda
The city council has my vote to approve the display of “In God We Trust” in the City Council Chambers.

I beg your pardon, but I’ve lived in this city for 30 years. I am part of the city and what I believe in is a government that doesn’t waste time on these matters. Don’t cross the line. Believe what you believe, but leave it at home, not in my city counsel meeting.
” This is just a city displaying what the believe.”
Wrong, this is a city now promoting religion.
What? How does that not violate separation of church and state? “In god we trust” is a religious statement. If you put it up in a government building, you just violated the separation of church and state. You have the right to worship whomever you choose, but the city also has to respect everyone else’s right to worship or not worship whomever they prefer. I think we have much better things to do with our tax dollars than to waste our time and money on such a useless proposition.
