New community group formed by Jim Prather to organize a cleanup effort of the Yorba Linda Lakebed.
Organizer and Lakebed area resident Jim Prather said roughly 40 people showed up to the YLFA’s last meeting.
“We are trying to help the community by cleaning up the mess,” Prather said. “A lot of people go down there and leave a lot of trash. With the big rains, what’s happened is torrents of water go through and pile all the trash up.”
The trash is bad for wild animals who call the area home, Prather said, adding that a lot of the trash eventually ends up in a storm drain on its way out to sea.
Anyone interested in joining the cleanup on Saturday is invited to meet at 9 a.m. at the park’s Buena Vista Avenue entrance. Volunteers are asked to bring trash bags and gloves.

100 Years ago the Lakebed actually had a lake in it
Now it is dry, but it is still a great place to go for walks and explore.
If you can help contact the group on their website www.yllfa.org
